Parliamentary candidate for North Herefordshire Ellie Chowns joined the BBC Radio 4 Women’s Hour General Election Panel and said: “The top priority for the Greens is to build a greener and fairer country, and that means investing in the public services we all depend on, like the NHS and the care system, it means reforming taxation so we can invest to make society fairer. And it, of course, means tackling the climate and nature crises that have to be addressed if we want our children and grandchildren to inherit that fairer, greener world.” On tackling crime, Ellie said violence against women and girls was “absolutely a priority ... We would make misogyny a hate crime across the UK,” she said, adding there would also be a UK-wide strategy to tackle gender-based violence, more training for police, and funding for councils to support charities supporting victims.
